Home sales have started in Legacy Ridge, the last section of new homes to be built in our community.
The Legacy Ridge enclave features 39 homesites, with homes by Highland Homes designed for 40-foot lots. Eight floor plans are available, ranging from 1,582 to 2,815 square feet and priced from the upper $300,000s. The designs offer three to five bedrooms and two to four full baths. Each home has a kitchen island, and several have a home office and upstairs game room.
“It’s incredible to think this is our last section of new homes,” said Rob Bamford, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cross Creek Ranch. “We’re pleased to have this caliber of homes at this price point in Legacy Ridge.”
As the last neighborhood of new homes, decided to pay tribute to Johnson Development Founder Larry Johnson by naming a street in Legacy Ridge “Cotton Kress.”
“Kress is a small town in West Texas where my dad grew up,” said Larry’s daughter Jennifer Johnson. “Plus, my grandfather was named Cotton Johnson, and my son’s middle name is Cotton. It’s an honor that the Cotton name will live on and that my dad’s legacy is being recognized through the Legacy Ridge neighborhood.”
Trendmaker Homes (now Tri Pointe Homes) originally acquired the 3,200 acres and then broke ground on Cross Creek Ranch in 2006, with home sales starting in 2008. Johnson Development purchased the community in 2012, continuing the vision originally set for the community.
“We wanted Cross Creek Ranch to be heavily inspired by nature and sustainable, even before the movement became so popular,” Bamford said. “We created more than 400 acres of amenity waterways throughout the community, used native grasses as landscaping and built the Polishing Pond that serves as both a community amenity and a wetland treatment basin.”
An agricultural ditch was transformed into the Flewellen Creek Nature Preserve, a 2-mile stream surrounded by 150 acres of parkland that traverses Cross Creek Ranch. The restoration of Flewellen Creek won a Parks and Natural Areas restoration award by the Houston-Galveston Area Council in 2014. The community won other awards for its environmentally sensitive development, including a Trees for Houston Arbor Award in 2016 and a Sustainability Stars Award by the West Houston Association in 2018.
Cross Creek Ranch has also been popular with home buyers, landing on the list of the nation’s top-selling master-planned communities nine times since 2013, including the list released last month.
“Part of the community’s appeal is its accessibility and mobility, and that’s thanks to the community’s location along the Westpark Tollway and Texas Heritage Parkway,” Bamford said.
Bamford expects the final homes in Cross Creek Ranch to be sold sometime in 2025. At that time, there will be approximately 6,000 homes in Cross Creek Ranch.
Currently, six builders offer a wide mix of homes in Cross Creek Ranch, with prices from the $300,000s to more than $1 million. Taylor Morrison has homes designed for people ages 55 and older in Bonterra. Highland Homes and Lennar offer townhome designs in Cross Creek Ranch. Highland Homes also offers single-family designs for 55-foot properties, and Newmark Homes builds on both 45- and 70-foot homesites. Perry Homes has floor plans for 55-, 60- and 65-foot homesites while Tri Pointe offers designs for 45-, 60- and 65-foot lots.
