As Roberts Middle School nears completion, the Lamar Consolidated School District has named Janice Harvey as its first principal.
Harvey is already well-known to Huggins Elementary students where she is the current principal. A graduate of Texas A&M University, Harvey has her master’s degree from the University of Houston-Victoria.
During her career in education, Harvey was also an assistant principal at Bowie Elementary, an assistant principal and math teacher at Briscoe Junior High, a fifth-grade teacher at Frost Elementary and an elementary teacher in Fort Bend ISD.
Lamar CISD broke ground on the sixth-grade only school last March. The new $23 million-dollar campus is located next to Fulshear High School in the 9300 block of Charger Way.
The district is unique in offering sixth-grade only campuses. These schools focus on the needs of pre-adolescents, providing a smoother transition to junior high schools — in this case, award-winning Leaman Junior High School.
Cross Creek Ranch students zoned to Lamar CISD schools will enjoy the benefits of attending some of the newest secondary schools in the district. Both Leaman and Fulshear High School opened in 2016.
We congratulate Ms. Harvey and look forward to the opening of our newest school.
