Children ages 5 and up can construct battle robots and participate in musical theatre productions during week-long day camps this summer at Cross Creek Ranch, a planned community in Fulshear by The Johnson Development Corp.
Cross Creek Ranch is hosting a variety of hands-on, educational camps, including American Robotics Academy, Arts Fulshear and Melody Music, with openings available for July and August. Dates, times and fees vary between programs.
Children learn engineering, design and problem-solving skills by building robots with LEGO Technic pieces during American Robotics Academy camps. Two sessions are available; “Freshman Robotics,” which allows students to build infrared wireless robots, begins July 13 and ends on July 17. A “Robotics on the Rampage” session, beginning August 3, focuses on building off-road “battle ‘bots” and ends Aug. 7. Both sessions run from 1-4 p.m. daily. Sessions are $175 per week. For more information, parents can visit www.RoboticsAcademy.com or phone 281-599-7626.
Children interested in the fine and performing arts may enjoy one or both of the Arts Fulshear camps. Rising first- through fourth-grade art enthusiasts will create a variety of mixed media art works at Art Camp, July 20 through July 24 from 12:30-3:30 p.m. The cost is $150 for the week.
First- through fourth-grade actors may prefer Theatre Camp beginning Aug. 10. Students will prepare and perform Hansel & Gretel & the Creepy Woods, a humorous take on the classic fairy tale. The performance will be on the final day of camp, Aug. 14 at Thrive Community Church. The program is $175 per child. For more information on Arts Fulshear camps, visit www.artsfulshear.org or phone 281-533-4109.
Finally, children entering first through fifth grades may enjoy spending a week singing, acting and preparing a musical play for family and friends. Melody Music Camp sessions run 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 27-31.
