Sixth grade Cross Creek Ranch students zoned to Lamar CISD will soon be charging into the 2019-2020 school year at Roberts Middle School, a brand-new campus they will have all to themselves.
The district is unusual in offering sixth-grade only campuses. These schools focus on the needs of pre-adolescents, providing a smoother transition to junior high schools — in this case award-winning Leaman Junior High School located next door.
The middle school, junior high school and high school are all located on the 9300 block of Charger Way, less than two miles from Cross Creek Ranch. In addition to sharing a street, the new middle school students will share the same mascot (Chargers) and colors (purple and black).
Teachers are already introducing themselves on the Roberts Middle School Facebook page. Many of the new students already know their new principal, Janice Harvey, as she was their principal at Huggins Elementary when they were in the fifth grade.
Lamar CISD broke ground on the $23 million-dollar campus last March. We can’t wait for Aug. 26 when the school bell rings!
